The Fall of Jericho

Jericho was the town where Rahab lived. We talked about her last time. Jericho was a city the Israelites needed to conquer in order to get to the Promised Land. Jericho was surrounded by big walls to keep the enemy out. So, God gave Joshua very clear instructions as to how they would take the city. But, God’s plan wasn’t to bring in big tanks to plow through the walls or even to bring weapons. God’s instructions were simply for the soldiers to march around the city every day for 6 days. On the 7th day, they were to march while some men blew horns. Then, they were to yell really loud and the walls would come down. Now, for Joshua and his soldiers, this was a weird plan. Soldiers were supposed to fight the enemy, not just march. But, this is the plan God gave them and their job was to obey it. And guess what? The plan worked! The walls fell and the Israelites took Jericho. When God is on our side, we won’t lose any battle.
