Jesus Feeds Five Thousand

God can do big things through little people.

One day, Jesus was teaching big crowds and it was late. The disciples told Jesus to send the crowds away because it was time for a meal. But Jesus had another idea in mind. He told his disciples that they should feed the crowds instead of sending them away. The disciples were confused. How could they ever feed the 5000 people in the crowd? They took a walk to see how much food they could gather and they found a little boy who was willing to share his five loaves of bread and two fish. But that was not going to be enough food to feed thousands of people. But Jesus happily took the food, prayed over it, and had the disciples pass out the food. This is where the story gets totally cool. There was enough food to feed all the people! Jesus had performed a miracle. Not only did they have enough food, they even had leftovers! Because a little boy was willing to share his lunch, Jesus proved his power by feeding everyone. Kids, just because you’re small doesn’t mean you can’t make a big difference. God loves to use kids just like you!

  3. Why were so many people following Jesus around? What did Jesus want to do for the people?
  4. How much bread and fish did the little boy have? What happened when Jesus prayed over the food?
  5. Read Ephesians 2:10. What are we to God? What are some of your unique qualities God has given you?
  6. How will you apply this lesson to your life this week?
